About this event
Hong Kong being a metropolitan city with tightly packed high rises, busy traffic and concerns on environmental aspects, it made motorsport in the city seems an impossible mission. However, with the hyper-evolution of electric vehicle in the private car sector and in motorsport, the dream of motor racing in the streets of Hong Kong had finally become a reality. The city had placed Central, HK in the international motor racing arena as one of the Formula E street circuits since 2016.

Formula E is an annual championship series that are raced using formula style single-seater fullyelectric racing cars that saw its first championship season in 2014. As FIA had put it “Formula E serves as a competitive platform for global car manufacturers and mobility providers to test and develop road-relevant technologies … helping to refine the design of electric vehicles and improve the driving experience for everyday road car …”.

In this Members Night, we are honoured to have Mr. Chacky Ip, the CEO of the Hong Kong Automobile Associate (HKAA) to share the HKAA’s experience in making Formula E a reality in HK and the various interesting aspects, the challenges and the joy in hosting an annual FE event in HK.
